But Why?

Because I can now do something that used to be impossible — save time and money on the same task. For years it was always a trade. I could buy back my time by hiring someone, or I could protect my operating capital by doing the work myself. I couldn’t do both. Now I can. A few examples.

Take bookkeeping. I ran QuickBooks for years, like plenty of businesses do well. I wasn’t one of them. To me it was cumbersome, overcomplicated, a time sink that quietly crushed my spirit every time I opened it. This tax season, I was done. I handed an AI agent the job of rebuilding my books from the ground up — on custom software built for my business, not the other way around. It fits like a glove. My bookkeeping is now almost entirely automated, I canceled QuickBooks, and I’m saving over $2,000 a year in subscriptions and outside accounting fees.

My website went the same way. When I wanted to spin up a new local page to lift my SEO, I could lean on AI for the copy — but I still had to go into Squarespace by hand and wrestle with their builder. Not anymore. Now I just ask my agent to build the page, send it over for review, and I go make a cup of coffee. It’s done in seconds, not an hour — and I stopped paying Squarespace for the privilege of doing it the slow way.

With agents working on my behalf, I move faster. I spend less. I’ve multiplied what I can put out into the world. And the best part: I can take new products from idea to market in a fraction of the time — AI first — and carry that same speed straight through to my customers. The business doesn’t run itself yet. But I’ve seen where this is going, and I’m pumped.

But what about you?

The businesses that win the next few years won’t be the ones with the biggest budgets. They’ll be the ones who figured out — early — that a single owner with the right agents can now do the work of a whole department. The leverage isn’t coming. It’s already here. I’m living in it.

You don’t need to learn to code. You don’t need to guess which model wins. You need to start asking a different question about every recurring task in your business: does a human actually need to do this, or have I just always assumed one does?

Most of what drains your week — the bookkeeping, the busywork, the $200-a-month tools that each do one small thing — lives in the gap between “we’ve always done it this way” and “we never stopped to question it.” That gap is where your time and money are hiding. AI is just the crowbar.

And the urgency isn’t hype — it’s compounding. Every month you wait, a competitor who started is pulling further ahead: faster output, lower overhead, new products shipped while you’re still scheduling the meeting to talk about them. This advantage doesn’t wait for you to feel ready.

So start small. Pick one task you hate. Hand it to an agent and watch what happens. Either you save an afternoon, or you learn exactly where the edges are — and both beat doing nothing.
